The Chicago Cubs have always been seen as one of the most popular franchises in baseball.
They have one of the most legendary stadiums in professional sports, Wrigley Field.
Also, they have had a few legendary players who are prominent in baseball history.
The greatest Cub of all time is Ernie Banks.
He was given the nickname Mr. Cub, and has a statue built outside Wrigley Field.
Banks passed away back in 2015, but his birthday is still celebrated every year amongst Cubs fans and baseball historians.
The Cubs posted a picture of Banks and wished him a happy birthday.

Banks played his entire career for the Cubs from 1953 to 1971.
He was a two-time MVP, 14-time All-Star, and a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Also, he won the Gold Glove in 1960 at shortstop.
Banks made history when he debuted for the Cubs.
He became their first Black player in team history.
Banks helped unite all baseball players in Chicago and he changed the organization for the better.
The only thing Banks missed out on in his career was a chance to compete in a World Series.
He played 2,528 career games without making the playoffs.
The lack of regular-season success was not the fault of Banks.
He was consistently the Cubs’ best player but the team around him was not strong.
Mr. Cub is one of the greatest players of all time.
He should be remembered for everything he did both on and off the baseball field.
