The Seattle Mariners were not a top team in the first half of the season.
But we knew that they were too good not to be in the postseason conversation.
Whereas the Los Angeles Angels collapsed in the summer months, the Ms started to take off, and haven’t looked back in the last two months.
“With their 11-7 win, the Mariners have gone from 10 games under .500 to 11 games over .500 in the span of 60 days,” Mariners insider Ryan Divish tweeted.

With a 65-54 record, Seattle is now in possession of one of the spots for the playoffs, and are about to break their long drought without October baseball: they haven’t been there since 2001.
It’s incredible how this team managed not only to climb back from 10 games under .500, but once they reached that mark, they went for more and got it.
The Mariners Are A Legitimate Contender
They are now a firm contender in the American League.
One of the biggest transformations on the Mariners roster has come in the pitching department.
Robbie Ray seemed lost at the beginning of the season, and only Logan Gilbert projected some sense of reliability.
Now, the team added star Luis Castillo via trade and George Kirby via the minor leagues.
Gilbert has been fantastic, and Chris Flexen and Marco Gonzales are competitive.
The bullpen, with pieces such as Andres Munoz, Penn Murfee, Paul Sewald, Erik Swanson, Matt Brash, and others, is looking real solid, too.
And, of course, the Mariners wouldn’t be where they are without rookie Julio Rodriguez (.266/.327/.470, 19 HR, 21 SB).
Eugenio Suarez has been a reliable power source all year long, and Jesse Winker is starting to heat up.
The Mariners are looking good.
