After having five players win Gold Gloves in the National League in 2021, the St. Louis Cardinals have four this year who have been nominated for them.
Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Tommy Edman, Tyler O’Neill, and Harrison Bader all won Gold Gloves last season.
Goldschmidt, Edman, and Arenado have been nominated yet again, so there could be some repeat performances.
Edman is also a finalist for the utility Gold Glove, which is something that is new this year.
Brendan Donovan is a finalist for that as well.
On Twitter, Katie Woo of The Athletic listed the four Cardinals Gold Glove nominees.
Four Gold Glove Finalists, Five Gold Glove Finalist nominations for the #STLCards:
Goldschmidt (1B) Edman (2B) Arenado (3B) (all winners last year) are finalists again. Edman and Brendan Donovan are also finalists for the first-ever utility Gold Glove.

Cards Have 4 Gold Glove Nominees
The Cardinals defense turned the most double plays (181) and committed the fewest errors (66) in all of baseball.
This is an organization that for years has been commended for its defense.
The utility Gold Glove opens up an opportunity for the Cardinals to have four Gold Glove Award winners this season, as both Edman and Donovan were used at multiple positions during the season.
Edman began the season as the starting second baseman, but ultimately finished as the primary shortstop after another disappointing year by Paul DeJong, which left second base open for Donovan.
As for Goldschmidt and Arenado, they may very well be the best in all of baseball at their respective positions.
Arenado gives Cardinals fans shades of Scott Rolen, while Goldschmidt is as reliable as anybody at first base.
The two of them have combined to form perhaps the most dominant infield duo in all of baseball.
Gold Gloves will be announced at the end of the postseason.
We’ll see if the Cardinals can take home some more hardware this year.
