The St. Louis Cardinals are hoping the 2024 season will be much better than 2023.
Everything seemingly went wrong for the Cardinals last season.
Their season ended with a 71-91 record which was their first time with a record under .500 since 2007.
You can look at many different reasons for the Cardinals’ struggles.
But, ultimately it comes down to their players not playing up to their potential.
As we head into the 2024 season, optimism is high surrounding the team.
One of their players already received an award before Opening Day.
According to the Cardinals on Twitter, Paul Goldschmidt was selected as the recipient of the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award.
That award is given to a player with “exemplary contributions in philanthropy and in our community,” per the team.
An MVP on and off the field!

Goldschmidt has been a fan favorite of the Cardinals ever since joining the team in 2019.
He won his first MVP as a Cardinal and has been a pillar in the community.
The Cardinals and their fans hope this is the first award of many for the upcoming season.
Even though Goldschmidt is entering his age-36 season, he is still one of the best hitters in the sport.
For the Cardinals to reach their potential this year, Goldschmidt will need to have a good season.
The NL Central is going to be an interesting division to watch.
Milwaukee won it last year, but their team got worse this offseason by trading away Corbin Burnes.
The division is up for grabs in 2024.
The Cardinals should be one team that makes a strong push to win it.
