Tommy Edman was one of five St. Louis Cardinals players to receive a Gold Glove in 2021.
He, Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Tyler O’Neill, and Harrison Bader took home much of the hardware for the National League last season.
This year, Edman is a finalist to win yet another Gold Glove Award.
Edman has been somewhat of a Swiss Army knife for the Cardinals, being able to play multiple positions.
He finished the 2022 season as the team’s shortstop, but is a finalist to win a Gold Glove for the second base position.
The other finalists are Jake Cronenworth of the San Diego Padres and Brendan Rodgers of the Colorado Rockies.

Edman A Finalist For Gold Glove
The Cardinals have always been commended for their defense.
In fact, this season, they committed just 66 errors, which is the fewest in all of baseball.
They also turned 181 double plays, the most in baseball, and Edman has been a big part of that, being able to play almost everywhere on the diamond for St. Louis, switching between shortstop and second base.
But Edman has certainly been a key to the Cardinals’ defensive improvement over the past several seasons.
And with him on the infield with Goldschmidt and Arenado, the Cardinals have formed perhaps the best infield in all of baseball.
Edman certainly learned a lot from Kolten Wong during his time in St. Louis.
He’s quickly emerged as one of the best defensive players in all of baseball and may soon be a perennial contender for a Gold Glove.
Gold Glove Awards will be revealed after the postseason comes to an end, and the Cardinals can only hope that Edman gets selected for yet another one this year.
