Not so long ago, not all NBA players needed to go one-and-done in college to secure a spot at the top of the NBA Draft.
Russell Westbrook was a big example of that, as he spent two years in college before being the No. 4 selection in the 2008 draft.
Westbrook sat behind Darren Collison in his freshman year before taking the Pac-10 by storm the following season, and he’s now one of the most successful alumni in program history.
That’s why it was nice to see him show up to the Bruins’ women’s tournament game vs. CA Baptist (via Yahoo Sports).

Westbrook has been away from the court for the past couple of weeks after suffering a fractured hand, and there’s still no timetable for his return.
The team announced that he’s still expected to be back on the court in time for the playoffs, which is obviously great news for Tyronn Lue’s side.
Westbrook hasn’t always gotten the recognition he deserves, but he’s one of the greatest and most athletic players of all time.
In his prime, he was an offensive juggernaut and a one-man show who could fill up the stat sheet on a nightly basis, and he’s the kind of player who’s always going to put in 110% effort whenever he sets foot on the court.
Still, his lack of success in the postseason has always been a stain on his otherwise flawless résumé, at least to some fans.
Hopefully, he’ll be able to get back on the court and have a meaningful impact for the championship-contending Clippers.
