The Los Angeles Clippers’ championship window could close right before their eyes.
Kawhi Leonard has already signed a contract extension.
However, Russell Westbrook is up in age, James Harden has left multiple times without addressing the media and has a history of walking away from teams, and Paul George has yet to sign an extension of his own.
More than that, a report by Philadelphia 76ers insider Keith Pompey reveals that the Clippers have been unwilling to meet George’s financial expectations for a new deal.
George could become an unrestricted free agent this summer by declining his player option, and the Sixers are reportedly keeping tabs on his situation (via NBA Central).
The belief is that the Clippers are unwilling to meet Paul George's expectations for his next contract, per @PompeyOnSixers
“The Sixers are closely monitoring the situation, hoping the Clippers let George slip away.”

This would make perfect sense for the Sixers, as Tobias Harris’ deal would finally be off their books, and they would have both the trade assets and salary cap availability to make a run at George.
The Clippers should go the extra mile to try and get George’s deal aligned with Kawhi’s, as they’ll continue to be championship contenders for as long as they’re both on the floor.
Then again, it’s also easy to understand why Steve Ballmer’s team could be hesitant to meet his steep demands.
While he’s one of the best and most impactful two-way players in the game, he’s also struggled with multiple injuries over the past couple of years.
An elite three-level scorer who can guard the opposition’s best scorer always comes at a premium price, but staying on the floor is a big part of the job.
