The San Francisco Giants made bids for Aaron Judge and Brandon Nimmo, are still in on the Carlos Rodon sweepstakes, and talked to Carlos Correa‘s representatives.
They also secured the signings of Mitch Haniger, Sean Manaea, and Ross Stripling.
They came to the offseason ready to do their homework and improve their team.
As it turns out, they are apparently discussing terms with another top free agent option: shortstop Dansby Swanson.
“Sources: #SFGiants and Dansby Swanson’s camp have been in contact this week about a potential contract. Swanson’s free agent decision is not believed to be imminent,” MLB insider Jon Morosi tweeted.

Two of the most prominent shortstops have already signed with MLB teams: Trea Turner (Philadelphia Phillies) and Xander Bogaerts (Boston Red Sox).
Correa and Swanson, however, remain up for grabs, and it is looking increasingly likely that the Giants will get one of them.
The Giants Are Increasingly Likely To Land A Top Shortstop
They enjoyed a nice 2021 season from shortstop Brandon Crawford, but he is getting up there in age and it showed in 2022.
They have money, there are quality shortstops available, and they have an opening.
Swanson, in particular, looks like a very good fit if they are pursuing free agent pitcher Rodon.
The former Atlanta Braves shortstop is not quite as good as Correa, but he is a nice alternative and should be cheaper.
Swanson is a very good defender who has improved with the bat to the point he is now a well-above average hitter.
Last season, he hit .277/.329/.447 with 25 home runs and a 116 wRC+; and he had slugged 27 homers the year before.
Getting Swanson would really increase their chances of making the playoffs in 2023.
