The wait is finally over for reigning Cy Young winner Blake Snell, as the ace has finally signed a contract and will be headed to the San Francisco Giants on a 2-year deal worth $62 million that gives him an opt-out after 2024.
Snell was reportedly looking for upwards of $250 million on a long-term deal this offseason, but concerns about his age and his control wound up forcing him to settle for this contract just a few days before the start of the 2024 season.
The opt-out is pivotal in this deal, as insider and host of the “Inside The Ravine” podcast Blake Harris said: “Can’t wait for Blake Snell to opt out next year and we go through this all over again.”

The 31-year-old and now two-time Cy Young winner is coming off a 14-9 season where he posted a 2.25 ERA and a career-high 234 strikeouts in 180 innings.
A big reason why he only got two years is because of the shocking 99 walks he gave up last season, a number he’d certainly love to reduce this season if he has plans of opting out and hunting another big contract next offseason.
Snell joins a Giants team that has quietly loaded up this offseason, after trading for former Cy Young winner Robbie Ray, signing star third baseman Matt Chapman, former World Series MVP Jorge Soler, and signing standout KBO star outfielder Jung Hoo Lee to a 6-year, $113 million deal.
The Dodgers may have had the loudest offseason due to the Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto signings, but their biggest rival has done a phenomenal job under the radar to create some tension in the NL West.
