The San Francisco Giants signed Sean Manaea and Ross Stripling in the last couple of days.
They came to the offseason with lots of available funds and several positions to fill.
Their first priority was to sign a star-level player or two, and so far, they have failed to secure one.
That doesn’t mean they haven’t improved the team, though.
They brought in outfielder Mitch Haniger and the aforementioned hurlers.
One would think they might be done spending or pursuing a true difference-maker, but that’s far from the truth.
According to Giants insider Susan Slusser, they remain in on a top starter.
“Sounds as if the Giants are, yes, still in on Rodón after signing Stripling. Pitching depth is always good or they want to limit some innings in the rotation a bit,” she tweeted.

The Giants Will Try To Retain Rodon
Carlos Rodon is said to be seeking a $200 million commitment, and the Giants still appear open to trying until the very end just like they did with Aaron Judge and Brandon Nimmo.
Rodon pitched the 2022 campaign with them, posting a solid 2.88 ERA with a much better 2.25 Fielding Independent Pitching (FIP).
He posted a career-high 6.2 Wins Above Replacement and eased injury concerns about his left arm.
With 237 punchouts in 178 frames, Rodon was as dominant as ever.
He was similarly good last season, but extraordinary circumstances forced him to settle for a short-term deal.
This time, he has everything going on for him to get that long deal he is seeking.
Will the Giants come out on top?
Only time will tell, but they probably will try until the end.
Their fan base wants an impact signing to keep believing.
