Seattle Mariners rookie sensation Julio Rodriguez is one of seven players who have signed on to compete in the T-Mobile Home Run Derby on July 18 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
He joins Jose Ramirez, Albert Pujols, Pete Alonso, Juan Soto, Kyle Schwarber, and Ronald Acuna Jr.
The 21-year-old rookie outfielder is hitting .274 with 15 home runs and 44 RBI this season and is on pace to have a chance at winning AL Rookie of the Year.
His manager Scott Servais sounded off on the idea of him competing in the Derby and seems excited about it.
Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times provided a tweet about his conversation with Servais.
Asked about Julio Rodriguez hitting in the home run derby, Servais replied. "It's Julio. I'm sure he'll do well and he'll represent the Mariners very well."
It's his world, isn't it?
Servais: "We're just a part of it. We're just along for the ride."

J-Rod Set For The Derby
Rodriguez is already establishing himself among some of the best players in all of baseball this season and is ready to represent the Mariners in not only the Home Run Derby, but the All-Star Game as well.
This is an exciting time for him and the Mariners.
Servais had a good take on him too.
This is just his world and we’re all just living in it right now.
As Servais said, everyone is just along for the ride.
And that’s how it should be with an exciting player like Rodriguez ready to make his mark on the game of baseball.
This is a guy with tremendous upside and an extremely bright future, much like his Mariners ballclub.
On Monday, he’ll stand toe to toe with some of the best players in all of baseball and one of the game’s most prized legends in Pujols.
It’s going to be exciting for sure, and Servais is certainly feeling the same way the rest of us are about getting a chance to see Rodriguez in the Derby.
