It is the second day of the new NFL league year, and quarterback Justin Fields is still a member of the Chicago Bears.
Many expected the Bears to trade Fields, the No. 11 pick in the 2021 draft, by now since they have the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, but it appears there may not be a market for him.
Bears general manager Ryan Poles said recently that he wants “to do right by Justin,” and former NFL player Louis Riddick asked on Twitter what that comment is supposed to mean.
“Wondering what doing right by Justin is going to look like exactly,” Riddick said.
Wondering what doing right by Justin is going to look like exactly…

Fields was a big star at Ohio State University, and as a result, people expected a lot from him at the next level.
However, he has shown little, if any, improvement in his three pro seasons, and he has completed 60.3 percent of his passes while throwing for 6,674 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions since coming to the NFL.
Some expected him to break out in 2023, but he mustered just 2,562 passing yards and 16 passing touchdowns, and even his rushing, his one strength, saw a drop in production, as he ran for 657 yards and four touchdowns compared to 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns in 2022.
Some feel Chicago is a high-quality QB away from becoming a playoff team, especially if they manage to snag an asset or two in a Fields trade.
At this point, one has to wonder if Fields will even be a starting QB somewhere when the 2024 season starts, as a number of teams that needed a legitimate starting QB have found one this month.
