Aaron Judge has officially entered the free agent pool and will be eligible to sign as soon as 5 p.m. Eastern Time today.
The San Francisco Giants are said to be one of the teams that will be making a push to sign the favorite to win the American League MVP Award.
Judge, a Bay Area native, is coming off a historic season in which he broke the American League single-season home run record, passing Roger Maris.
While the New York Yankees are expected to make a push to keep their slugger, the Giants cannot be counted out.
Farhan Zaidi stated that he doesn’t believe Judge is out of the Giants’ price range and that it will ultimately come down to whether or not there is mutual interest between Judge and the Giants.
You think probable MVP Aaron Judge could be too pricey for the #SFGiants on the market?
Guess again.
“From a financial standpoint, nobody is out of our capability ….'' Giants president Farhan Zaidi said. "And then it'll just be a question of whether there's mutual interest.''— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) November 10, 2022
Giants’ Plan For Judge
With free agency getting underway this evening, the fun is about to begin.
The sweepstakes for Judge will certainly feature both the Giants and Yankees.
But a team like the Los Angeles Dodgers also can’t be counted out.
Judge would be a huge addition for the Giants if they can sign him.
After winning 107 games last season, the Giants ultimately had a disappointing 2022 campaign, finishing in third place in the NL West at 81-81.
With Joc Pederson hitting free agency, the Giants find themselves in need of an outfield bat.
Judge would be quite a significant upgrade for San Francisco.
The excitement begins tonight.
Judge is officially a free agent and will have several teams calling for his services.
