Although he hasn’t had to change cities – or arenas – since moving to the Los Angeles Clippers, things might be very different for Russell Westbrook soon.
Now that he’s a member of the Clippers, Westbrook’s role as a basketball player might be totally altered by his new head coach, Tyronn Lue.
He was finding success with the Lakers after taking on a bench player role and giving up some of the responsibilities of a starter but what will life look like playing for the Clippers?
Tyronn Lue on Russell Westbrook:
“We want Russ to be Russ. If he’s doing too much or not enough, we’ll let him know. We want him to be the MVP, the Hall of Famer that he is. He’s excited, he just wants to win.”

Lue spoke to the press the other day, as seen above, about coaching Westbrook and finding the right speed for him:
“We want Russ to be Russ. If he’s doing too much or not enough, we’ll let him know. We want him to be the MVP, the Hall of Famer that he is. He’s excited, he just wants to win.”
The idea of Westbrook “being Russ” might not assure many nervous Clippers fans.
He was certainly doing just that for much of his time with the Lakers and it led to some of the worst basketball of his career.
It was only once Westbrook agreed to do things differently that he began to experience greatness and really help his team out.
The Clippers haven’t confirmed if Westbrook will be a starter or a bench player.
As we all know, he tried both for the Lakers.
He was a sensational bench star, leading the second unit and finding an average of 15.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 7.5 assists this season.
His great work has some people thinking he has a chance at Sixth Man of the Year.
The Clippers will have to weigh their options and decide what version of Westbrook they want.
