With Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina both officially retired, the St. Louis Cardinals are down to just one holdover from their 2006 and 2011 World Series championship teams.
That “holdover” is Adam Wainwright, who closed out the 2006 NLCS and World Series and has been a three-time All-Star during his Cards tenure.
Wainwright too, will be retiring after the 2023 season.
But one of the things the Cardinals and their fans love about the veteran right-hander is his ability to have fun while he’s not pitching.
On Twitter, a Cardinals fan expressed excitement for having the 41-year-old back for one final ride, including a video where Wainwright did a hilarious and perfect impression of the now retired Pujols, who gave him a little grief earlier in the season for entering the Cardinals broadcast booth during a game.
Wainwright coming back next season is awesome for several reasons. His in-game interviews are one. His impressions are another. 🤣 #STLCards pic.twitter.com/LpBHNrJm1q

Wainwright’s Lighter Side
In the latter stages of his career, Wainwright is simply taking in the pleasures of baseball, which includes entering the broadcast booth.
Here, the veteran ace was being interviewed by the FOX Sports broadcast while he was sitting in the Cards dugout during a game against the New York Yankees.
And his impression of the future Hall-of-Famer was simply spot on.
On the mound, Wainwright displays a competitive attitude and a desire to dominate, but when he’s doing his in-game interviews, he cannot only share his experiences, but also do spot on imitations of his teammates.
Cardinals fans should enjoy Wainwright’s interviews while they can.
