The Chicago Bears could be one of the most improved teams in the league next season.
They’ll have the No. 1 and No. 9 picks, a very solid defense, and some cash to spare.
That’s why NFL analyst David Kaplan wants them to put that money to good use.
Talking on his Kap & J Hood show on ESPN Chicago, he claimed that the team should make a run at Saquon Barkley.

He stated that he could help the team win and compete at the highest level right now.
And while the Bears shouldn’t give him a long-term or an Ezekiel Elliott type of deal, they just cannot miss this opportunity.
Kaplan claimed that if the running back position has devalued so much that a talent like Saquon Barkley can’t even get the franchise tag, the Bears should make the most of this chance to sign him to a two-year deal worth around $9 million per year, adding that they should even guarantee every dollar of that deal.
Of course, Barkley always comes with some risk, as he’s never been able to stay healthy for long.
Then again, he’s one of the most impactful offensive players in the game when he’s healthy, and the Bears desperately need to establish the run, especially if they want to give their rookie QB a helping hand.
Whether the Bears will pick up the phone and make a run at the Penn State product remains to be seen, but the move would definitely make sense for both parties.
