Albert Pujols was in vintage form on Monday night as the St. Louis Cardinals blew past the Cincinnati Reds in the opener of their final series at Great American Ballpark.
Pujols is certainly making the most of his final stop in Cincinnati.
Last night, he picked up two hits, including home run No. 694 for his career.
He went the opposite way for this one and added Reds left-hander and St. Louis native Ross Detwiler to his list of home run victims, making Detwiler the 450th different pitcher to allow a home run to the Cards’ legend.
That moved him past Barry Bonds for the most all-time.

Albert Goes Oppo Taco
Pujols can still go the opposite way, even in his advanced age.
His second-half surge has brought renewed energy to this Cardinals ballclub and the fan base.
Everybody in St. Louis is now waiting in anticipation for Pujols to reach 700 career home runs.
With a month to go in the season, he’s six away from reaching that mark.
The home run was Pujols’ 15th of the 2022 season.
His two-hit night brought his batting average up to .277 for the season and his RBI total up to 40.
Pujols is certainly making the most of his farewell tour and made sure to hit yet another home run at Great American Ballpark, a place where he has had a ton of success over his many years in the big leagues.
He did it in vintage style too, going the opposite way for No. 694.
Now, all of Cardinal nation holds its collective breath as Pujols inches ever so closer to the all-important 700-homer milestone.
We’ll see what September has in store for him and if he can reach 700.
