The Chicago Bears head into the NFL offseason with 25 players who will be released in 2023.
These players have contracts that are expiring, requiring the team to make an important decision.
While the team has cap space to keep these players, they must use this money wisely.
Out of the 25 players, there are two players who the Bears must re-sign in 2023.
DeAndre Houston-Carson
DeAndre Houston-Carson is a silent hero in Chicago.
While he’s a backup safety, he does amazing things when the team needs him.
After Eddie Jackson suffered his season-ending injury in 2022, it was Houston-Carson who took over for him.
However, in 2021 he was the 10th highest-rated safety by PFF.

With him being a solid defensive player, the Bears can’t afford to let him walk.
His ability to be a game changer makes him a special asset in Chicago.
David Montgomery
The Bears led the NFL in total rushing yards in 2022 thanks to a slate of running backs.
While Justin Fields led the team in rushing yards, Montgomery was right behind him.
He finished the season with 801 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
If the Bears can’t land a better replacement, keeping Montgomery is something they must do.
He’s someone who can improve if given the chance.
While he only cracked 1,000 yards once in his career, he is still an asset to the team.
He is an important part of the passing game, as he had 34 receptions for 316 yards and one touchdown.
These numbers might be enough to keep him in Chicago for one more season.
