Last night, Game 5 of the ALDS between the Cleveland Guardians and New York Yankees was postponed due to rain in the New York City area.
As a result, the series will spill over into the first day of the NLCS.
The ALCS is still scheduled to start on Wednesday in Houston.
But this is nothing new for the Guardians.
Cleveland went 92-70 during the regular season, on their way to their first AL Central crown since 2018.
But this season, they have had to play 12 doubleheaders as a result of rain postponements.
This is already the second time that they’ve had to deal with the rescheduling of a postseason game.
Needless to say, this is nothing new to the Guardians.
The Cleveland #Guardians have had 12 doubleheaders due to rain, and now they’ve had two postseason games rained out against the #Yankees. A year to remember https://t.co/X00HPkPSGh

Guardians In Familiar Territory
The Guardians have had to deal with a ton of scheduling issues this season.
If anything, this could actually help them out.
Now, Shane Bieber is available to pitch in Game 5 on short rest.
The Yankees have already announced that Nestor Cortes would be starting on short rest.
But this isn’t anything new for the Guardians, who have had to adjust accordingly thanks to weather-related postponements in 2022.
Obviously, it has now happened 14 times this season, 12 times during the regular season and twice in this ALDS against the Yankees.
Today’s game is scheduled to begin at 4:07 p.m. Eastern Time.
The Yankees and Guardians traded wins in the first two games at Yankee Stadium, with Gerrit Cole pitching a gem in Game 1 and the Guardians battling from behind late to even the series.
Cleveland won Game 3 in walk-off fashion, but were unable to close out the Yankees in Game 4.
The series is now back in New York for the clincher.
