The Cleveland Guardians have not had much to be excited about this season.
They have disappointed all year and will soon be eliminated from playoff contention.
But, that does not mean some positive things did not come from the season.
One cool moment that happened was for veteran outfielder Kole Calhoun.
According to the Guardians, Calhoun reached 10 years of service time.
This is a big deal in the Big Leagues.
Congrats to Kole Calhoun on reaching 10 years of MLB service time. 🫡#ForTheLand pic.twitter.com/GtY59VUshl

That is a significant milestone for every MLB player.
Being able to play that long in MLB is rare.
Calhoun has played 32 games with the Guardians.
He has hit .231 with four home runs and 18 RBI in those games.
Reaching 10 years of service is something that every MLB player hopes for.
That way they can receive the pension after they retire.
Also, plenty of MLB players want the respect that comes from playing for 10 years.
It goes to show that you played at a high level for a long time in MLB.
According to the MLB Players Association, fewer than 10% of players in MLB history have reached 10 years of service.
Calhoun is now one of those elite few.
There is no question Calhoun is not the player he once was.
But, MLB teams have liked him enough to continue deploying him.
Another thing that playing 10+ years can give a player is a chance at the Hall of Fame.
Playing fewer than 10 seasons and trying to get into Cooperstown is very difficult.
While Calhoun will not be in the Hall, many other players who have reached 10+ years will.
