After several notable departures from the coaching staff of the St. Louis Cardinals, those roles have now been filled.
Bench coach Skip Schumaker, pitching coach Mike Maddux, hitting coach Jeff Albert, and bullpen coach Bryan Eversgerd each stepped down from their roles.
But the Cardinals have announced their replacements.
Assistant hitting coach Turner Ward has been promoted to the hitting coach position and Dusty Blake has been promoted to the pitching coach position.
Cardinals Hall of Famer and fan favorite Matt Holliday will be returning to the team and will serve as the bench coach.
The Cardinals also hired former MLB first baseman Brandon Allen as the assistant hitting coach and Julio Rangel as the assistant pitching coach and bullpen coach.

Cards Set Coaching Staff For 2023
Returning coaching staff members include first base coach Stubby Clapp, third base coach Ron “Pop” Warner, assistant coach Willie McGee, and bullpen catchers Jamie Pogue and Kleininger Teran.
Oliver Marmol will also be back for his second year as the team’s skipper.
The hiring of Holliday has the City of St. Louis elated this morning.
Holliday played eight seasons in St. Louis after being acquired in 2009 and was one of the key members of their 2011 World Series Championship team.
Holliday was a seven-time National League All-Star, a four-time Silver Slugger, and a batting champion over the course of his 15-year career.
The slugger was inducted into the Cardinals Hall of Fame back in August alongside Julien Javier and Charles Comiskey.
With the coaching staff set, the Cardinals can now focus on the offseason as they attempt to address their areas of need.
