The St. Louis Cardinals have stumbled a little bit in the month of September.
An inconsistent offense and an out of character month for Adam Wainwright have them at just 13-10 since the month began.
But they still have a commanding 6.5 game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers, who they open up a two-game series with at American Family Field tonight.
With a win tonight, St. Louis would clinch their first division title since 2019.
The Brewers could still tie them in the standings, but with tiebreaker games no longer existing, winning the season series would be enough for the Cards to claim the Central.
One fan tweeted this morning that it would be a great day for the Cards to wrap up the Central division race.
Good morning! It’s a great day for the St. Louis Cardinals to become NL Central champs 🤙🏼

Cards Fans Ready To Celebrate
Everyone around the city of St. Louis certainly agrees.
It’s been a difficult month for the Birds, but they can put all that behind them with a win tonight.
Another fan tweeted an old photo of Adam Wainwright being showered with champagne.

St. Louis will send Miles Mikolas to the mound tonight in hopes of closing out the Brewers.
Mikolas has been their most consistent starter this season, posting a 3.35 ERA.
If the Cardinals wrap it up, then this would be their 12th NL Central title.
They finished tied with the Houston Astros for it in 2001, but Houston was given the title for having won the season series.
While this has been a difficult month for St. Louis, they still have a solid team on paper that is a clear contender for a World Series title.
Mikolas is just the guy they want out on the mound to try and secure the division title.
