For Tarik Cohen’s NFL career, it’s been a struggle.
The one-time return all-star for the Chicago Bears has more bad news coming his way.
After being released by the Bears earlier this offseason, the bad news didn’t stop there.
He would injure himself during a workout as he streamed it on Instagram Live.
That wasn’t the first time he’s injured himself, as injuries have plagued him his entire career.
A Torn ACL And MCL Ended His Career With The Chicago Bears
While the Bears released Cohen in March of this year, their reason for releasing him was because of his injuries.
2020 saw him leave a game against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3 with a torn ACL and MCL.
He never played again after that injury.
Because he missed both 2020 and 2021 because of the torn ACL and MCL, the team parted ways with him.
However, he thought he had fully recovered from his injury to practice this year.
But he was wrong.
It was during his practice that he suffered a torn Achilles.

His luck with injuries isn’t good when he tore something else while still recovering from a torn ACL and MCL.
It is also injuries that caused him to fall from grace.
Bears Saw Cohen As An All-Star After One Good Season In 2018
In his second season with the Bears, Cohen posted some solid numbers as a return man.
He also had a lot of receiving yards for someone that’s a running back.
His 2018 saw him with 411 punt return yards, 444 rushing yards, and 725 receiving yards.
It was also his best season he had in his career.
He didn’t improve in 2019, but that didn’t stop Chicago from believing in him.
They kept him around, feeling that he could make his improvements in 2020.
However, they were wrong, as that’s the year he was injured.
But even with Cohen’s bad luck with injuries and his on-field play, he had some good luck.
Cohen Signed A Three-Year Extension Right Before He Was Injured
Cohen had some luck before landing on the IR for two seasons.
The week before his ACL and MCL injuries, he signed a long-term extension with the Bears.

Getting that deal done before his injury was crucial for him while he was injured.
Had he not gotten the deal done beforehand, he might have been released in 2021.
So it kept him around a little longer while getting paid.
With His Latest Injury, Is His Career Over?
Recovering from an ACL and MCL injury is bad enough.
Now Cohen has a torn Achilles to rehab.
With these injuries, he most likely won’t return to his former glory.
It could also cause NFL teams to worry about his durability as a player.
However, for the short-term, his career is over for now.
But if he can recover from this latest injury, and show he’s at 100%, he might still have hope.
While a return is possible, he won’t be returning in 2022.
With him being out for a third straight season, he might decide to retire early from the NFL.
