3 NFL Teams With The Easiest Week 1 Matchups

The 2022 NFL regular season schedule is set and fans are looking to see who their team faces.

While some teams are evenly matched, others are mismatched.

These mismatched teams have the easiest opponent to face during Week 1 of the NFL season.

But which three NFL teams have the easiest games of Week 1?

3. Ravens Have It Easy With The Jets

With Lamar Jackson coming off an injury that ended his 2022 season, an easy game is what he needs.

His offensive line allowed the second most sacks in the NFL, something Baltimore addressed in the NFL Draft.

While they made some offensive line improvements, going against a team tied for 25th in sacks during 2021 also helps.

It gives Jackson a team that he can easily pick apart on offense.

Their defense should also have it easy going against the New York Jets offense.

They weren’t much of a threat in 2021 and most likely won’t be in 2022.

Everything bodes well for Baltimore in this Week 1 matchup.

2. Saints Have It Easy With The Falcons

This should be Jameis Winston‘s first game back after his season-ending injury from 2021.

However, there’s a slight chance he could miss the game if his rehab goes wrong.

If that happens, the New Orleans Saints shouldn’t have anything to sweat against their division rival.

The Atlanta Falcons lost Matt Ryan in a trade and are missing top receiver Calvin Ridley for the season.

Without those two offensive tools around, the team looks to Marcus Mariota, their new quarterback for 2022.

While Mariota has starting experience at quarterback, it’s been awhile since he started for an NFL team.

Atlanta has other problems as well.

They also lost Russell Gage, Foye Oluokun, and Lee Smith.

Those players were all big parts of the Falcons’ roster.

This takes away a wide receiver target, weakens their defense, and also takes away a big time blocker on offense.

So it won’t matter if Winston is available for this game or not, as the Saints can cruise to victory in this game without him.

1. Colts Have It Easy With The Texans

With Matt Ryan making his first start with the Indianapolis Colts, there’s no better team to face than the Houston Texans.

Ryan has the best running back in the NFL currently with Jonathan Taylor.

He also faces a team that’s completely rebuilding their franchise.

So he couldn’t have asked for an easier team to face to start off the NFL regular season.

It gives him the ability to say he’s the answer for the Colts after their first game.

However, he’ll still need to make use of Taylor and the play-action pass to maximize his first start with a new team.

But if he doesn’t, at least the Texans allow for him to learn the new offense without needing to worry about much.

He has room for error in this first start, something he might not get with other opponents.

With the Texans rebuilding, and the Colts’ offensive duo, the Colts got the easiest Week 1 game of 2022.
