On Thursday, Stephen Strasburg announced that he will be retiring from Major League Baseball.
Strasburg has spent his entire career with the Washington Nationals.
He came up to the majors in 2010 and immediately became an ace.
Injuries derailed his 2011 season, but he returned in 2012 and helped guide the Nationals to several years of success.
In 2019, he earned World Series MVP honors after winning Games 2 and 6 of the series against the Houston Astros.
He had career a 1.46 postseason ERA.
On Twitter, MLB Now posted a graphic showing Strasburg’s postseason stats and how they compare to some of the greats.

Also on the list are stars such as Madison Bumgarner, Curt Schilling, Orlando Hernandez, John Smoltz, and Dave Stewart.
Among those aces, Strasburg has the best career postseason ERA.
The 35-year-old also managed to do it in the fewest amount of innings pitched out of those starters.
Strasburg accomplished this in 55.1 innings in his postseason career.
So while Strasburg’s career is coming to an unfortunate end, he still ranks among some of the greatest pitchers in postseason history.
His run in 2019 was extra special as he won two games in the World Series and earned MVP honors for that series.
He became a free agent after that and signed a seven-year, $245 million contract, which ultimately has not worked out for the Nationals.
However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that the veteran right-hander had a spectacular career and put together some very solid postseason stats.
