The greatness of Shohei Ohtani is something that many MLB fans take for granted.
What he is doing on a baseball field is something we have never seen before in MLB history.
Not only has he established himself as one of the best pitchers in the sport but he is also an elite hitter.
Ohtani was named the starting designated hitter for the American League in the All-Star Game and the top vote-getter in the league.
He is a fan favorite and deserving of his third straight All-Star appearance.
Ohtani continues to make baseball look very easy.
According to OptaSTATS, Ohtani is the second MLB player to have 30+ home runs and 5+ triples at the All-Star break.
The other is MLB legend Willie Mays.

Ohtani leads all of baseball in home runs (31), slugging percentage (.670), and OPS (1.060).
Also, he is tied for the MLB lead in RBI (68) and triples (5).
Not only does Ohtani have elite power but he also has speed.
Calling him a five-tool star would be a disservice to what he can do nightly.
Ohtani is the overwhelming favorite to win AL MVP this year.
It could be his second MVP in three seasons and he has yet to turn 30.
You would think Ohtani would need some days off due to the wear and tear of pitching every fifth day.
But he has played in 84 of the 86 Angels games this season.
There will never be another player like Ohtani, so fans should enjoy the two-way superstar while they can.
