The Los Angeles Angels had an offseason to forget.
For a team that usually tries to spend money on free agents, it has not gone well for them.
The one player they signed in the past decade that has worked out is Shohei Ohtani.
But, they watched Ohtani sign a contract with their crosstown rival this offseason.
Losing Ohtani is a significant setback for the Angels.
The chances of them competing for a playoff spot in 2024 are slim to none.
But, the only chance they do have is if their best players stay healthy and perform.
One player that must have a bounce-back season is Anthony Rendon.
His contract with the Angels has been a disaster up to this point.
But, he still has time to change the narrative around him.
According to Sam Blum, Rendon is already battling an injury in spring training.
It is a groin injury but he does not seem concerned about it.
Anthony Rendon was hitting and doing a mostly normal workout today. He won’t play today (groin), but doesn’t seem too concerned.
Also Robert Stephenson is throwing a bullpen today and Ron Washington expects him to be good for opening day.

Rendon has been on the Angels for four seasons.
The most games he has played in one season is 58, though he did play 52 of the 60 games during the 2020 shortened season.
His inability to stay on the field has been a major problem.
Entering his age-34 season, he will not be getting healthier.
Most players are prone to injury when they get older, but Rendon has been prone to injury his entire Angels career.
If he has anything left in the tank, the Angels hope he can show it this season.
He could be the reason this team is either the worst in baseball or contending for a playoff spot.
