A win is a win for Derek Carr and the New Orleans Saints.
It’s not the prettiest of victories, but they are 1-0 after narrowly defeating the Tennessee Titans.
While they chalked up a “W” to open their season, there is still room for improvement for the Dennis Allen-coached squad.
They struggled to score in the final quarter of the game, but it was enough to hold on to the 16-15 victory.
Likewise, coaches and team leaders will make every player accountable for their mistakes.
Therefore, Carr will motivate his teammates to do better because that’s the kind of leader that he is.
Saints linebacker Pete Werner shared these same thoughts with CBS Sports’ Jim Rome.
“One of the best vocal leaders I’ve been around,” Werner said to Jim Rome.

For quarterbacks, Werner has been around many of them since his college football days at Ohio State.
While with the Buckeyes, he played with J.T. Barrett, C.J. Stroud, Justin Fields, and the late Dwayne Haskins.
In the NFL, he has played with Taysom Hill, Trevor Siemian, Andy Dalton, and Jameis Winston.
Carr also exemplified leadership on the field when he finished with 23 completions for 305 yards and a touchdown against the Titans.
Meanwhile, Werner was also one of the leaders on defense, tallying eight tackles and sharing a sack with Cameron Jordan.
Carr, Werner, and the Saints will try to go 2-0 when they face their division rival Carolina Panthers on the road this week.
