Patrick Mahomes has been having a banner year while he’s on the field.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is at the forefront of league MVP discussions and continues to put the Chiefs in a prime position to win any game that he starts.
This morning, it was announced that Mahomes was going to be honored with a different, off-field award.
A huge honor! Proud to represent Chiefs Kingdom, @15andMahomies and the work we are doing in KC and beyond. Thank You! https://t.co/JbFIO127Lg

The Chiefs have nominated Mahomes for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award.
For a bit of context, each NFL team nominates one of their players for this award, and there is only one winner across the league.
This award goes to a player who shows tremendous character, and who is a key contributor to their community through charitable contributions.
Mahomes’ Off-Field Efforts
Throughout his time in Kansas City, Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, have involved themselves in many different community efforts.
One of their main projects is 15 and the Mahomies.
15 and the Mahomies is an organization that aims to assist children, focuses on well-being, helps provide college scholarships, and promotes an overwhelming sense of holistic wellness.
The Mahomes family has also assisted with a program called the KC Pet Project, which helps families secure pet food and other needs for the furry members of their families.
If he were to win the award, Mahomes would be the sixth Chiefs player to be given this accolade.
Regardless of the hardware he collects on the shelf, Mahomes’ efforts throughout the Kansas City area certainly do not go unnoticed.
