Perhaps the biggest surprise team in the NFL this past season, other than the Houston Texans, was the Green Bay Packers, who got off to a slow start to the regular season, but then turned it on in the second half, which led to an impressive showing in the NFL playoffs against the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers.
With the Packers putting on a show as one of the hottest teams in the league in the second half of the 2023 campaign, the immediate future looks bright in Green Bay, as the rebuilding process might not be something the team has to go through with Jordan Love under center.
That said, the Packers can start making bold moves to upgrade the roster immediately rather than down the road, which the team has done with NFL free agency getting underway this week.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN via Rob Demovsky, Green Bay has made a massive upgrade to its defense with the addition of free-agent safety Xavier McKinney, who has agreed to a lucrative four-year deal.

Clearly, the Packers were willing to shell out the money in order to make this kind of upgrade to the defensive side of the football.
The Packers are in win-now mode, and the addition of McKinney takes them another step closer to achieving their goal of being a legitimate title contender in the NFC.
In 17 games during the 2023 campaign, McKinney recorded three interceptions, 11 passes defensed, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and 78 solo tackles.
