Free agency in the NFL is about to officially get started, and the Green Bay Packers will be looking to fortify a promising roster that surpassed the expectations of many during the 2023 season.
They signed free-agent running back Josh Jacobs on Monday, but they also let go of a mainstay on their offensive line.
Per their official Twitter account, they released longtime offensive tackle David Bakhtiari.

Bakhtiari has played all 11 of his seasons in the NFL with the Packers, and he had originally been a fourth-round selection by them in the 2013 draft.
He has been named to the Pro Bowl three times and the All-Pro First-Team twice throughout his career.
He was quickly named the starter for Green Bay for Week 1 of his rookie season, and he has started each of the 131 games he has played in the pros.
However, two knee injuries limited Bakhtiari to one game each during the 2021 and 2023 seasons, and at age 32, perhaps he wasn’t worth the type of big-time money he had been making.
Just prior to the 2020 season, Green Bay gave him a four-year, $105.5 contract extension.
The team entered a brave new world during the 2023 season after trading longtime franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers and promoting Jordan Love to the starting spot.
Although some were skeptical that Love would amount to anything substantial, he went on a heater during the second half of the season and led the team to the playoffs and even a playoff victory.
