For years, Aaron Jones had been the Green Bay Packers’ workhorse, excelling out of the backfield and dominating in the running game.
He was at his best in the playoffs last season, torching the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers on the ground.
However, he also struggled with injuries, so the team didn’t hesitate to pursue a bit of an upgrade at the position, signing veteran RB Josh Jacobs to a multi-year deal.
With that in mind, HC Matt LaFleur shared his thoughts about his new running back (Via Matt Schneidman).

LaFleur raved about Jacobs’ versatility, playing style, and body of work.
He believes he can also be a major factor in the passing game, adding that he’s excited to get him involved in the flow of the offense.
As great as Jones was, Jacobs is younger, more versatile, and more durable.
He’s perhaps the only true workhorse running back in the game who could be on the field on all four downs, regardless of the context, the opponent, or the play-design.
Also, the team structured his contract in a way that they could move on from him after every season, so they protected themselves from the running back decline that has worried and scared so many teams away in recent years.
Adding Jacobs to their promising and dynamic offense could help Jordan Love take his game to a whole new level, as he looked much better when they were able to establish the run, and coach LaFleur has proven to be a savvy and creative offensive mind.
