The Dallas Mavericks already know what it’s like to have a generational player.
But as great and influential as Dirk Nowitzki was, they may have found one of the best pure talents in the history of this beautiful game.
Luka Doncic has been schooling grown NBA players since he made it to the league, and the sky seems to be the limit for him right now.
That’s why even Shaquille O’Neal tipped his hat off to him, stating that he considers him to be a prolific scorer.
Doncic then explained his scoring mindset and stated that he’s never been about the numbers:
“Luka, Shaq here. I don’t consider you a scorer. I consider you a prolific scorer. When I was a prolific scorer, I used to tell myself, ‘I need to get 40, or I need to get 50.’ Do you go into the game with the same mentality, or do you let the game come to you?” Shaq asked Luka.
“I just go [to the] game,” Doncic replied. “You know, just trying to win it. [It’s never] like ‘I’m going to get 40, 50, whatever. Just trying to win the game and like you said, ‘Let the game come to you.

Doncic is currently averaging a league-leading 34.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, 8.7 assists, 1.7 steals, and 2.9 triples on 50.1% from the floor, so imagine the numbers he could put up if he were interested in stat-padding.
The Mavericks still need to give him some help to be a legit contender, but he’s having a season for the ages.
