During the 2019 NBA Finals, Kevin Durant tore his Achilles and ultimately sat out for an entire season as he recovered.
However, there was a moment when Durant believed that he would never play in the NBA again because of that horrible injury.
Speaking to Boardroom, via Bleacher Report, Durant shed some light on that traumatizing event and how it instantly affected him.
“20,000 people in there and I heard a pop,” Durant said.
“My whole basketball career just flashed before my eyes,” he added, noting that any viewer could see that he was in a daze before he was helped up.
KD thought his career was over after he tore his Achilles in the 2019 NBA Finals.

In a matter of seconds, Durant was convinced that he was done playing for the league and would have to start a post-NBA life.
Of course, that didn’t end up being the case and Durant is still one of the biggest stars in the world.
However, that did mark the last time he played for the Warriors.
He then moved to the Brooklyn Nets but sat out of the entire 2019-20 season as he recovered.
An Achilles injury is perhaps the worst thing that can happen to an NBA star and there are a number of players who never fully bounced back or played like their regular selves again.
Thankfully for Durant, he has made a complete recovery and today is averaging 28.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game.
The NBA would have lost a massive talent if Durant really did go down forever during the 2019 Finals and even those who root against the Phoenix Suns are happy that he is still around.
Durant has always been outspoken about his opinions and this interview is a frank, deep perspective into a moment that could have changed his life forever.
