One of the most surprising outcomes of any Game 1 of a series in the first round of the NBA playoffs in the Western Conference was the young and inexperienced Minnesota Timberwolves blowing out the veteran-led Phoenix Suns, who had no answer for Anthony Edwards and company.
Ever since the arrival of superstar forward Kevin Durant, the Suns have been touted as one of the teams to beat in the West, as the team may have found the perfect teammate to play alongside fellow superstar Devin Booker.
As if Durant and Booker weren’t a talented enough duo in Phoenix, the Suns also brought in veteran star Bradley Beal to form one of the best trios in the NBA, but the results have been less than stellar so far.
With Durant in the fold in Phoenix, the expectation was that he’d assume that leadership role and provide some guidance, considering he’s already won two rings.
Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports hasn’t been impressed with Durant’s performance thus far, and he is calling for more from the future Hall of Famer, via The Volume.
“He is one of the great shot-makers of my life, but I want more from him,” Cowherd said.

If the Suns continue to play without a sense of urgency, Phoenix could be headed home early, as it has become clear that the Timberwolves are the real deal and have only gotten better with the return of Karl-Anthony Towns.
It’ll be interesting to see if Phoenix can make a series and if Durant steps up to avoid losing in the first round.
