NBA fans have always had issues with the head coaches of their favorite teams.
It’s a thankless job that comes with a ton of pressure and so many things to consider, remember, and juggle.
But there is one growing trend that is very troubling.
Sitting down with Shannon Sharpe on “Nightcap,” former NBA star Gilbert Arenas claimed that today’s coaches are “time managers” who are not really coaching the game.
He said they don’t pay attention and live in the game but instead just refer to a sheet of paper that informs them when they need to make substitutions.

Sharpe and Arenas took issue with Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham and Wednesday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings.
During that game, Austin Reaves started to get really hot from the floor and it seemed like all his shots were landing.
Instead of leaving him in the game, Ham pulled Reaves from the lineup.
The Lakers ended up losing that game and some people believe it’s because of Ham’s coaching decisions.
Coaching an NBA team is a tough kind of science that requires planning, observation, and adjustments too.
Instead, too many head coaches are simply relying on a formulaic approach to putting players in and out of the game.
This isn’t the only complaint against Ham and other NBA coaches but it’s louder than the rest.
The best coaches are the ones who let their players find a rhythm and thrive without interrupting their flow.
Sharpe and Arenas know these professionals have a tough job but they believe they can make life easier for themselves and their teams if they tweak their technique.
