Supply and demand.
Perhaps even more than raw talent, skills, or experience in MLB, supply and demand are the elements that, more often than not, dictate market dynamics and how much a specific player will earn.
In this specific case, Yoshinobu Yamamoto has so many suitors that he is likely to get an incredible contract.
The guy hasn’t thrown a single pitch at the MLB level, yet there is talk about him getting as much as $300 million.
That’s what supply and demand causes: those who lost out on Shohei Ohtani are now betting all their chips on Yamamoto.
The San Francisco Giants are one of those teams.
“Source: The Giants met yesterday with pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He’s got a lot of big market teams bidding for his services,” ESPN’s Buster Olney tweeted.

The Giants were one of the organizations interested in Ohtani, but now that he has signed with their rival Los Angeles Dodgers, fans are eager to see them make a big move.
It’s often easier said than done, though.
The New York Yankees, the New York Mets, the Dodgers, the Boston Red Sox, and a myriad of other teams want Yamamoto at all costs.
That isn’t precisely good news for San Francisco, but they are going to give it a shot anyway.
They are desperate to add a star.
They came close last year with Aaron Judge and Carlos Correa.
Now they want to add Yamamoto, who posted a 1.21 ERA in 164 innings in Japan and is a three-time MVP winner there.
