The New York Mets have been a powerhouse all season long.
But with the return of staff ace Jacob deGrom, they received a shot in the arm and now have the opportunity to boast a rotation that features him and Max Scherzer.
deGrom has been every bit as good as advertised since his return, and it’s been enough for him to earn some high praise from a former MVP in Mookie Betts.
The Los Angeles Dodgers‘ star leadoff man and right fielder had nothing but nice things to say about deGrom, saying that he might just be the best pitcher in Major League Baseball history.

Betts Praises deGrom
Betts might just be preaching to the choir.
deGrom has already won two Cy Young Awards and has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the game ever since he came up in 2014.
The 34-year-old right-hander is 4-1 in six starts with a 1.98 ERA over 36.1 innings.
Still, this is some high praise from Betts, considering that pitchers such as Roger Clemens, Pedro Martinez, Tom Seaver, and Bob Gibson came before deGrom.
That’s some pretty healthy respect from a former MVP.
But deGrom has certainly earned that praise with the way he’s pitched, not just this year, but in years past as well.
He is a two-time NL Cy Young Award winner after all.
He also was the NL Rookie of the Year in 2014.
He’s put together what looks to be a Hall of Fame resume in just a few short years.
Betts has also had a chance to face him before, so he can certainly attest to how dominant deGrom can be when he’s healthy and on his game.
