As the NBA regular season begins to wind down, there is more conversation about who will win Most Valuable Player.
Right now, conventional wisdom says that Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets has the best chance of being selected as MVP, but there are other people in the running for it too.
Speaking on NBA on TNT, Charles Barkley said that Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves should win that prize if he keeps his team as the top squad in the Western Conference.
He admitted that Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Jayson Tatum are all in the conversation for MVP but Edwards would rise above them all if the Timberwolves continue to thrive.

Minnesota just received the devastating news that Karl-Anthony Towns needs surgery to repair a torn meniscus and will be re-evaluated in one month.
The loss of Towns could seriously harm the Timberwolves and there is a chance they slip down in the West.
But if they don’t and remain the top seed, it’ll be mostly because of Edwards, Barkley said.
And that will earn him the right to get his first MVP trophy.
Edwards is recording 26.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game this season and the Timberwolves have a 44-19 record.
But competition is fierce and the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets are hot on their heels.
Now is the time for those teams to rise up and strike since Towns is out.
These next few weeks will be very crucial for the Timberwolves, the rest of the West, and the race for MVP.
