Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa has missed his team’s last three games with a right middle finger contusion.
The injury, sustained last Thursday, occurred after he was hit by a pitch.
The Twins called up big-time prospect Royce Lewis to take over Correa for however long he was out.
But they need to make a roster move to bring in a new, healthy body for the next few days because Correa will need some more rest.
“Also: Carlos Correa is expected to go on the injured list today. No setbacks. Finger isn’t worse. As Correa indicated in quotes below Sunday, his recovery is just taking a little longer than he originally hoped. Likely needs 3-4 more days and #MNTwins need a healthy body,” The Athletic’s Dan Hayes tweeted.

Correa Still Feels Some Pain Doing Baseball Activities
The quotes he is referring to indicate that the shortstop still feels pain when he grabs a bat or a ball, so while he is not worse, he is also improving at a very slow pace.
He talks about being 100 percent healthy when he returns, because he is of no help if he goes out there and plays hurt.
The whole situation will result in the Twins placing him on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to last week, to call up somebody to fill the roster.
In any case, it doesn’t sound like Correa will be out too much longer, but he does seem to need a few more days.
The important thing is that tests showed that there is no fracture.
Once the soreness is gone, he will start swinging a bat, fielding ground balls, and performing all baseball activities.
