Albert Pujols‘ first game back with the St. Louis Cardinals went pretty well to say the least.
The Cardinals sure hyped up his return when news broke of him signing with them on a one-year, $2.5 million contract.
Hype videos, old photos, and great moments in time were shown by the Cardinals on their social media pages.
But it didn’t feel official until he took part in an actual game with his old squad for the first time since 2011.
Not only did Pujols collect his first hit of the spring, but the Cards also busted out for 29 runs against the Washington Nationals, with 15 coming in the eighth inning.

Welcome Back, Albert
This is one way to welcome back one of the best players in franchise history.
Perhaps having Pujols gave St. Louis the magic they needed to conjure up 29 runs.
It may only be a spring training game, but how many people can say that they saw a team score 29 runs?
Unfortunately, the game was not televised, so only fans in attendance could actually see what was going on.
What a way to welcome Pujols back to his old team.
Pujols also picked up his first RBI of the spring, which started the Cardinals’ onslaught.
Pujols grounded into a double play which scored the game’s first run.
Maybe there’s just something about Pujols wearing the Birds on the Bat again.
Magical things can happen when a player puts on the Cardinals’ uniform.
It just feels natural to see Pujols wearing that Cardinal red again.
He’s back where it all started and is ready to show St. Louis fans that he still has plenty left in the tank for his final season.
