On Monday, the St. Louis Cardinals will return home after completing a six-game road trip, competing against the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox.
However, a certain player on the Cardinals roster will also be returning to familiar territory.
Catcher Willson Contreras, who to the surprise of many has been used exclusively as a designated hitter for the past several weeks, will be returning to the catcher position with Jack Flaherty on the mound.
On Twitter, Katie Woo, who covers the Cardinals for The Athletic, reported the news of the recent experiment coming to an end and Contreras ultimately returning to the catcher position.

This situation has certainly been an odd one.
The Cardinals starting pitching has been poor, to say the least.
However, by moving Contreras to the designated hitter spot, it almost seemed as if the Cardinals were attempting to use the slugger as a scapegoat for the struggles of their pitching staff.
The team also made it appear as if this experiment would be lasting a few weeks.
Now, it appears that the Cardinals have had a change of heart and have decided to put an end to this odd experiment.
This means Contreras will be back behind the plate starting on Monday.
Recently, the Cardinals called up catcher Tres Barrera from Triple-A Memphis and have been using backup catcher Andrew Knizner as the primary catcher while Contreras has served as a DH.
St. Louis has now won two consecutive series and will look to continue that trend when the Brewers come to town.
