The Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson is back in the news, but this time for something off the field.
Despite having an abysmal first season in Denver, Wilson is now caught up in a controversy surrounding his charity.
It appears that the Why Not You Foundation, created by Wilson spends only 24.3 cents of every dollar on charitable events.
One investigation even reported that nearly half of the money raised goes to paying the employees.

While this is not a good look for Wilson or his charity, it appears there might be an explanation.
Broncos Insider Benjamin Albright thinks the issue here is simply a lack of oversight.
After looking over this Russell Wilson charity story in-depth this simply looks like a lack of oversight, which is its own problem.
But the idea that Russell Wilson is ripping off people through a charity to make less money than he makes in an appearance fee is preposterous.

Wilson has always been lauded for his work off the field.
In 2020, he was named Walter Payton Man of the Year for the work done by his charity.
Despite how many people may think of him, he deserves the benefit of the doubt in this situation.
Wilson has yet to comment on this issue, but it would be hard to believe he is knowingly ripping off his charity.
Once the dust settles, all of the focus will turn back to Wilson the quarterback.
His terrible 2022 season left a bad impression on a lot of people in Denver.
But, the Broncos are going to do whatever is necessary to make this work.
That is why they hired Sean Payton to be their new head coach.
He is an offensive mind known for getting the best out of his quarterbacks.
Denver is hoping he can help fix Wilson, and save the Broncos organization from another quarterback catastrophe.
