The 2023 St. Louis Cardinals have been one of the most disappointing teams in all of baseball.
However, the season hasn’t been devoid of good moments.
Recently, the winners of the Heart and Hustle Award from each team were announced.
Each year, a player from every team is selected as the winner of this award.
For the Cardinals, the winner is super utilityman and Gold Glover Brendan Donovan.
Donovan made his Major League debut last season with the Cardinals and emerged as a key piece in their lineup, even coming close to winning Rookie of the Year honors.
On Twitter, Bally Sports Midwest congratulated the Cardinals’ utility ace on his accomplishment.

Donovan is a player that the Cardinals are hoping to build around in the future.
He recently was limited to designated hitter duties due to an elbow injury.
Unfortunately, the utility ace is out for the season after undergoing surgery on Wednesday.
But the Cardinals are understandably very high on Donovan and believe that he is a key piece for the future of the team as they look toward 2024 and beyond.
This year, Donovan finished with a .281 average and 11 home runs, following up his rookie campaign with more success.
Now, he has earned an important Cardinals honor.
Other Cardinals who have won the award include Harrison Bader, Matt Carpenter, Paul Goldschmidt, David Eckstein, and David Freese.
Donovan now joins that elite list of Cardinals stars.
He was third in the voting for the NL Rookie of the Year Award last season.
