Adam Wainwright may be entering the final season of his storied MLB career, but there is still one thing that the legendary St. Louis Cardinals pitcher has yet to do.
The veteran right-hander will be a part of Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, which began Tuesday night.
Team USA’s first game will be on Saturday against Great Britain, with Wainwright making the start.
The 41-year-old is certainly excited about the opportunity to compete with Team USA in the WBC.
Early on Wednesday, the two-time World Series champion spoke with MLB Network to discuss his experience thus far and what it means for him to have the opportunity to pitch in the Classic.

Wainwright said he had never been asked to compete in the WBC before, but that he was excited to have the opportunity to do it this year.
His former teammate Mark DeRosa is the manager of the squad.
The three-time All-Star says that he’s lucky DeRosa is the manager, or else he may not have been asked.
He also recalled being left off the Olympic squad in 2003 and how it left a bad taste in his mouth.
He said he’s looking to right the ship and have a better experience this time around.
Wainwright then praised DeRosa for his skills as a manager and what he told his team to get them motivated.
Finally, the veteran right-hander talked about what the experience has been like so far.
Wainwright went as far as to say that it was almost like a first day of school for him.
