Earlier today, surprising rumors came out about the New England Patriots offensive coordinator position.
Matt Patricia has been a member of the Patriots coaching staff for over ten seasons, but it appears that the team may be looking for a change.

Even though Patricia has been coaching for the Patriots for the past two seasons, he was being paid by the Detroit Lions, who fired him as their head coach.
Patricia hasn’t found great success when leaving the Patriots, as shown by his 13-29 record as a head coach.
The Patriots have believed in Patricia up to this point, as he was instrumental on their coaching staff when Tom Brady was on the team.
But, Brady is no longer a member of the Patriots, and the team hasn’t found anywhere close to their prior levels of success with Mac Jones.
This season, the Patriots’ offense averaged 21.3 points per game, which was their second-lowest mark in the past ten seasons.
The only point that the team averaged fewer than 21.3 points per game was in 2020, Jones’ rookie season.
If the Patriots want to change their ways, making a switch to the offensive coordinator position might be their best bet.
Currently, there are plenty of available coaches, many of which would be a great fit for the Patriots offense.
Jones is in desperate need of new leadership, and could seriously benefit from a new OC not named Patricia.
Only time will tell what the Patriots decide to do.
It doesn’t feel like Robert Kraft enjoys losing.
