What are the New England Patriots’ plans for the No. 3 overall pick?
Fans and analysts have tried to predict what is going to happen for the past several weeks.
Given Mac Jones’s departure, the Patriots are seemingly in the market for a new starting quarterback, and the No. 3 draft spot gives them a crack at one of the top prospects in this year’s class.
Analyst Cameron Wolfe recently spoke about this on the NFL Network’s “Path to the Draft,” talking about what he is hearing from his sources.
Wolfe did mention that new head coach Jerod Mayo will help consider any options, but ultimately said, “As of today, they would stay at three and pick.”
Patriots HC Jerod Mayo told me if the massive “bag” trade offer comes while they are on the clock they would heavily consider it, but they HAVE to get this draft right & QB is huge part of that.

While Wolfe thought this in the evening before the draft, anything can happen on draft night.
Take the 2023 draft as an example.
Heading into the draft, Will Levis was thought to be a surefire first-round pick, potentially going as early as second overall.
That was the buzz from analysts and fans, and sportsbook odds reflected this idea.
However, as we now know, Levis famously sat in the green room for the entire first round and wasn’t picked until the second round.
With this in mind, if the Patriots receive a strong offer, and a team behind them gets desperate to draft a quarterback, they might be left no choice but to move back.
They could accrue additional draft capital and veteran players in the process, so it’ll be interesting to see what offers if any, other teams in the league cook up for them.
