The New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs recently engaged in an amazing regular season game featuring two talented young superstars, Zion Williamson and Victor Wembanyama.
Considering both players are former number-one overall picks, fans expected a high-quality matchup, and they weren’t disappointed.
After a hard-fought battle, the Pelicans ended up registering a 114-113 win over the Spurs.
Zion Williamson was undoubtedly the star of the show as he dominated the Spurs by putting up 33 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists.
On the other hand, Wembanyama’s numbers weren’t as incredible as Williamson’s, but the Pelicans star still praised his rival during the postgame conference, as revealed via Yahoo Sports on Twitter.
“We haven’t seen anything like that… He’s an amazing player,” Williamson said.

Williamson didn’t hide his excitement about playing against Victor Wembanyama in the NBA.
The 23-year-old mentioned that Wembanyama is a one-of-a-kind player, and the league has never seen a player like him ever before.
Wembanyama contributed 16 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 assists to the Spurs in their 113-114 loss against the Pelicans.
While Wembanyama continues to have an excellent rookie year, averaging 20.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, his numbers haven’t led to wins for the San Antonio Spurs.
Following the loss against the Pelicans, the Spurs have fallen to a 10-39 record as they remain the 15th seed in the Western Conference.
Keeping that in mind, it’s becoming abundantly clear that Victor Wembanyama will undoubtedly miss the playoffs during the first year of his NBA career.
Can Wembanyama and the Spurs still shock everyone and at least clinch a spot in the Play-In Tournament this season? It’s highly unlikely.
