Despite losing the NFC Championship Game to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Washington Commanders had a very successful season and their immediate future is very bright.
They finally have a legitimate franchise quarterback in Jayden Daniels, who will likely win Offensive Rookie of the Year, and they have some other useful players throughout their roster.
One of those players is tight end Zach Ertz, who caught 66 passes for 654 yards and seven touchdowns this season.
At 34 years old and about to become a free agent, he recently provided an update about his plans.
“I still want to play football next year. I just want to make that clear that I’m not retiring,” Ertz said, via Around The NFL.

Ertz signed with the Commanders as a free agent after playing for the Arizona Cardinals, and before that, he had been with the Eagles since he was a second-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
With the Eagles, he won a Super Bowl championship during the 2017 season and earned his first of three straight Pro Bowl nods.
One thing Washington could use, whether Ertz sticks around or not, is another playmaker on offense to make life easier for Daniels.
Wide receiver Terry McLaurin had 82 catches, 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns, ahead of Ertz in receptions, yards and touchdowns.
Washington was 12-5 during the regular season, the first time since 1991 they won at least 12 games.
That season was the last time Washington, a team once considered a flagship NFL franchise, won the Super Bowl championship.
