The New York Yankees won’t have a crucial piece in their Monday lineup, as they face the Tampa Bay Rays in an important AL East showdown.
Infielder DJ LeMahieu is not in the lineup because he is dealing with some soreness/discomfort on his right toe.
According to a Yankees insider, however, LeMahieu’s level of concern is not particularly high.
“DJ LeMahieu is not in the #Yankees starting lineup today. LeMahieu was scheduled to get some imaging today after suffering from right toe/foot discomfort, which he stated was not something he was particularly concerned about and called it part of the ‘wear and tear,’” ESPN’s Marly Rivera tweeted on Monday afternoon.

LeMahieu had stated on Sunday that he expected to be in the lineup today, but he will undergo the imaging instead.
LeMahieu Will Get Some Imaging On His Ailing Toe
The Yankees will pay close attention to the results of the tests to determine if the infielder could be back tomorrow or if he will need to miss more days.
LeMahieu is second on the Yankees in Wins Above Replacement (WAR), with 3.5.
He is currently hitting .279/.381/.417 with 12 home runs, and is one of the most productive top-of-the-order hitters in the American League thanks to his excellent on-base skills, contact prowess, and occasional power.
His teammates continually praise him as one of the Yanks’ top batters.
The Yankees sure hope it’s something minor, because the lineup can’t afford to lose more productive players this late in the year.
